Free for everyone
No account, no email address and no payment. Schools, tutors and families can use and print everything here.
No adverts or trackers
There are no analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts and files are served from this site, and scores and stickers stay in the browser on your own device.
Safe for children
Links on children's pages ask a grown-up first. Read-aloud uses recorded voices or the voice built into your device, so no text is sent away to be spoken.
Honest about evidence
Guides list their sources, and we say plainly when an idea is popular but poorly supported. See our sources and why we use them.
How the course is made and checked
- Built on public frameworks. Levels follow the CEFR and the Cambridge English young learner exams. For schools in England, word lists and phonics follow the Department for Education's documents.
- Our own texts. Stories, reading passages and worksheets are written for this site. Facts in non-fiction passages come from the sources listed on our sources page.
- Checked before release. Separate reviews check facts, child safety and accessibility. Answer keys are re-read and outside links are tested on every build.
- Labelled suggestions. Where advice is our own choice rather than tested in research, such as timings or age bands, we say so on the page.
Spotted a mistake, or want to help?
