Make it comfortable to read.
Change the text size, spacing, background colour and font. Your choices are remembered in this browser, apply across the site, and are never sent anywhere.
These controls need JavaScript. Your browser's own settings (zoom, reader view or a custom style sheet) will also work.

What each setting does
Text size
From the normal size up to one and a half times bigger.
Letter and line spacing
More space between letters and lines can make dense text less crowded for some readers.
Background tint
Soft colours instead of bright white. Try them and keep the one that feels easiest.
Font
The literacy font has a single-storey a and g, closer to handwriting. Or use your device's own font.
We do not claim that any setting helps every reader. The point is to let each reader choose what feels comfortable. For help with reading difficulties, see SEND support and speak to your school.
The settings are stored in your browser (local storage) under the name lt-prefs-v1. Clearing site data removes them. Page layouts are tested at each size, but a very large size on a small phone may need sideways scrolling in wide tables.
