Build the Word
Look at the picture and hear the word. Tap the letters in order to build it.
Pick a set
Build the Word covers sets 2 to 17. Words use the sounds up to the set you pick. Ask a grown-up to pick the set your child is on.
For grown-ups
Look at the picture, hear the word and tap the sound tiles in order to build it. There is no timer and no score to beat: a wrong answer just fades and your child can try again. Eight short rounds make a game.
Follow your own programme. This order follows the general Letters and Sounds phase order (GOV.UK, 2007, now historical). Schools in England choose their own phonics programme. The DfE publishes a list of validated programmes (there is no legal requirement to use one), and each programme orders the sounds a little differently. If your school has one, practise in its order and use these pages for extra listening and reading.
